Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees. This is a 13-week contract position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a nursing assessment on all patients within 8 hours of admission, forming the basis of an individualized plan of care.
  • Identify teaching needs and goals related to each patient’s diagnosis, collaborating with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide timely patient information and status for team conferences and ensure accurate documentation in the medical record.
  • Participate in the patient rehabilitation program and provide direct care utilizing the nursing process.
  • Initiate discharge planning and patient education from the day of admission.
  • Communicate changes in patient status to appropriate care providers to support continuity of care and safety.
  • Train and supervise ancillary nursing personnel, delegating tasks appropriately.
  • Ensure personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Contribute positively to unit functioning, promoting a calm and efficient work environment.
  • Maintain communication with management regarding service needs and ensure resource availability.
  • Assume charge responsibility as requested after the orientation period.
  • Pursue professional growth through continuing education and self-study.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
  • ACLS required prior to first shift (CIRH ONLY).
  • Minimum two (2) years bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
