Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) ensures quality care by adhering to the nursing care plan and supervising Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants. The RN engages in patient safety practices, emphasizing a culture of safety in both patient care and the work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission, forming individualized plans of care.
  • Identify teaching needs and set goals based on the nursing admission assessment, collaborating with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide timely patient information and status updates for team conferences.
  • Utilize the nursing process to deliver direct patient care and ensure proper education for patients and families.
  • Initiate discharge planning upon patient admission.
  • Communicate changes in patient status to ensure continuity of care.
  • Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel, utilizing problem-solving techniques in decision-making.
  • Ensure personal and environmental safety, adhering to hospital and nursing policies.
  • Contribute positively to unit functioning and participate in team-building activities.
  • Maintain communication with management regarding service needs and resource availability.
  • Assume charge responsibilities as requested after orientation.
  • Pursue professional growth through continuing education and self-study.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • BLS Certification Required Prior to First Shift
  • ACLS Required Prior to First Shift (CIRH ONLY)
  • Minimum Two (2) Years Bedside Clinical Experience – Highly desired
  • Previous LTAC Experience – Required
  • Work experience with Select Medical – Highly desired
