PACU Registered Nurse (Travel RN) — Columbus, OH. 13-week travel nurse assignment at a heart hospital caring for cardiac, EP, and vascular patients; requires 3+ years PACU or critical care RN experience.
Job Details – PACU Travel Nurse / Post-Anesthesia Care Unit RN
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1830-$1930/week
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Location: Columbus, OH 43210 (Columbus healthcare / Ohio nursing jobs)
- Setting: Invasive Lab Prep and Recovery (PACU) — cardiac, EP, and vascular procedures
- Shift: Day shifts: 3x12-hour (08:00 - 20:30) or 4x9-hour (10:00 - 20:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Start Date: April 6, 2026
- End Date: July 6, 2026
- Patient Population: Adults
- Number of Beds: 23; Avg Visits/Day: 35
- Weekend Shifts: No weekends required
- Orientation: 36 hours
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of recent PACU or critical care RN experience (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit RN / cardiac nursing experience preferred)
- Active RN license (compact or Ohio state license required at submission) — Ohio fingerprinting required upon contract signing
- Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Experience with Epic electronic health record (Epic charting)
- Two professional references (one from manager/director or formal leadership; second may be a Charge RN)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
Responsibilities – PACU / Perioperative Nursing
- Provide pre-op and post-op care for patients undergoing Cath, EP, and vascular procedures (inpatient and outpatient)
- Monitor and recover patients in Phase I and Phase II anesthesia, including MAC and conscious sedation
- Perform and manage pre/post-operative procedures, pain management, and discharge education and instructions
- Administer blood products, emergency medications, and perform airway assessment and management
- Recognize and manage dysrhythmias, perform cardioversion, and support post-cath lab care
- Start and maintain IVs, obtain 12-lead EKG/ECG, and interpret lab values relevant to cardiac and vascular patients
- Follow isolation precautions/PPE and malignant hyperthermia protocols
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV team, respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, and social services
