Medical-Surgical Nurse (RN) - Middletown, Ohio

Provide specialized nursing care as a registered nurse on a medical-surgical stepdown unit focused on cardiac and general medical patients. This role demands expertise in biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The care approach emphasizes ongoing partnerships between patients, families, and healthcare teams, respecting cultural and age-specific needs. The RN practices within the guidelines of the American Nursing Association (ANA) code of ethics and complies with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute myocardial infarction, cardiac arrhythmias, cardiomyopathy, congestive heart failure, and other low-risk cardiac/chest pain diagnoses.
• Provide care for diverse medical conditions including renal, endocrinology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, and oncology patients.
• Administer infusion therapy, transfusions, injections, and central line care.
• Engage in advanced training on non-invasive positive pressure ventilation techniques such as Bi-PAP, C-PAP, and A-PAP.
• Monitor patients using cardiac telemetry and support stroke care as the unit specializes in stroke management; maintain NIH stroke scale certification.
• Collaborate with patient care assistants who assist with activities of daily living, point-of-care glucose testing, and 12 Lead EKGs.
• Uphold nursing standards consistent with professional and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Ohio.
• Experience or strong interest in medical-surgical stepdown nursing with cardiac patient care.
• NIH stroke scale certification or willingness to obtain.
• Competency in infusion therapy and central line care.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Commitment to culturally sensitive and age-specific patient care.
