PCU/Stepdown Nurse (RN) | Lorain, Ohio

A critical care nursing opportunity is open for experienced registered nurses specializing in cardiac stepdown care. This role requires proficiency in managing acute cardiac patients with a focus on progressive care and stepdown unit experience. The position offers a unique setting to provide specialized care while working rotating 12-hour shifts that support the operational needs of the hospital.

Schedule/Hours

• Rotating 12-hour shifts (7:00 pm to 7:30 am and 7:00 am to 7:30 pm)
• Night shifts primarily (19:00 - 07:30)
• Must be able to work at least every other holiday

Qualifications/Desired Experience

• Minimum 18 months of permanent RN experience in cardiac stepdown or progressive care unit prior to travel
• Current permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (American Red Cross or equivalent)
• Competency in ECG rhythm recognition and medication safety (assessments during orientation)
• Experience with PCU/progressive care preferred but not mandatory

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care for cardiac stepdown patients, monitoring and managing acute cardiac conditions
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care
• Ensure compliance with established hospital protocols and safety standards
• Participate in ongoing skills validation including rhythm recognition and safe medication administration
