PCU/Stepdown Nurse (RN) | Newark, Ohio

The role requires a commitment to providing high-quality care within a 36-hour workweek on day shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. This contract position is based in Newark, Ohio, with a start date set firmly for January 19, 2026.
Responsibilities include managing patients recovering from open-heart surgery, administering and monitoring cardiac drips, and caring for heart catheterization recoveries as well as other cardiac and med-surg step-down patients. Nurses will typically work every third weekend and cover one holiday, with no on-call duties except in rare circumstances when staffing or census fluctuations occur. Flexibility to float to other units during low census or coverage crisis is necessary, although not frequently expected.
Key qualifications include
- Minimum of three years of cardiac step-down nursing experience, including open-heart care and ventilator management
- Proficiency in Epic EMR system
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic healthcare setting
