Stepdown Registered Nurse | Lorain, Ohio

A specialized contract nursing opportunity is available in Lorain, OH, focusing on stepdown care within advanced cardiac and pulmonary settings. This role is ideal for registered nurses skilled in providing care to medically complex patients requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions. The position offers the chance to work with patients managing advanced heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, and complex arrhythmias, including those with implantable cardiac devices and those awaiting heart transplantation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with advanced cardiac conditions and pulmonary hypertension
• Monitor and manage patients with electrolyte imbalances, dysrhythmias, and tachy-brady syndromes
• Provide pre and post-procedure care for cardiac catheterization, ablation, and chemical cardioversion using anti-dysrhythmic medications such as Tikosyn
• Support patients with implantable devices including pacemakers, defibrillators, and Ventricular Assistive Devices (VAD)
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality, patient-centered care
• Participate in hospitalist service backup, broadening medical-surgical nursing skills

Desired Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Experience in stepdown or critical care nursing, preferably within cardiac or pulmonary specialties
• Familiarity with advanced cardiac monitoring and management of complex arrhythmias
• Ability to provide high-acuity patient care, including post-procedure monitoring
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills
