Stepdown Registered Nurse - Lorain, Ohio

A registered nurse with specialized experience in cardiac stepdown care is needed for a contract position at a prominent medical center located near Lorain, OH. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care on a stepdown unit that focuses on cardiac patients. The position offers a rotating schedule with 12-hour shifts primarily on nights, with occasional day shifts depending on hospital needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialized nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients, ensuring safety and quality throughout the recovery process.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and implement patient care plans.
• Monitor patient vital signs and cardiac rhythms, responding promptly to changes.
• Participate in required trainings and competencies, including ECG rhythm recognition and medication safety evaluations.
• Maintain accurate documentation of care activities using electronic systems.

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in Ohio or a Compact State is required.
• Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in cardiac stepdown nursing prior to travel.
• BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications mandatory.
• Experience in PCU or progressive care settings is preferred but not essential.
• Ability to work every other holiday.
• Successful completion of facility-specific competency assessments during orientation.

Schedule

• Rotating 12-hour shifts, including 3 consecutive night shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am, with the possibility of day shifts as operational needs arise.
