Stepdown RN - Hamilton, Ohio

A nursing role is available in a Stepdown unit located in Hamilton, OH. This contract position offers the opportunity to work with complex patients in a dynamic care environment that supports both team and primary nursing models.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care to patients with conditions such as COPD, CHF, Pneumonia, Flu, Sepsis, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, and Post-COVID complications.
• Manage patients on ventilators, tracheostomies, bipaps, and high oxygen support in collaboration with respiratory therapists.
• Administer and monitor drips including insulin, heparin, and Cardizem.
• Function efficiently within team nursing or primary nursing models depending on the unit trial status.
• Adhere to safety protocols including N95 mask fittings and EKG telemetry monitoring.
• Float to specialty clusters or different campuses as required.

Qualifications and Desired Experience

• Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 1.5 years of experience, preferably in stepdown or progressive care (SD/PCU) units with a 1:5 patient ratio demonstrated in work history. ICU experience alone will not qualify.
• Ventilator experience is mandatory.
• EPIC electronic medical record proficiency required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications with proven ability to read and interpret EKG strips.
• Pass online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to assignment.
• Flexibility to work nights (four 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM) every other weekend and holiday.
• Willingness to float as needed within approximately 15 miles radius of the primary facility location.
• Preference for candidates with travel nursing experience.

This role involves working with ventilated patients and continuous monitoring of complex drips in a progressive care environment committed to team-based nursing care for improved workload balance and patient outcomes. Navy blue scrubs are required. Management reserves the right to adjust assignments based on census and provides reasonable notice for shift cancellations.
