Provide critical care to intermediate step-down patients in a specialized neuroscience and high-risk respiratory unit located in Springfield, OH. This contract opportunity focuses on delivering exceptional nursing care within a team nursing model, where Registered Nurses collaborate with LPNs and Patient Care Technicians to efficiently manage patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Care for patients with neurological conditions such as strokes, transient ischemic attacks, and seizures, as well as those requiring intermediate high-risk respiratory support.
  • Manage patient ratios between 1:4 and 1:6, adapting to fluctuating acuity levels.
  • Deliver ventilator care and utilize heated high flow and BiPAP therapies.
  • Collaborate effectively within team nursing and primary nursing models depending on unit needs.
  • Float across campus units as necessary, supporting various specialties including high-risk respiratory and neuro ICU patients.
  • Maintain compliance with facility protocols, including completing an online EKG tele competency assessment prior to starting assignment.
  • Work night shifts of four 12-hour rotations (7:00 PM 7:30 AM) and be available every other weekend and holiday.

Qualifications and Desired Experience

  • Current RN license with documented step-down or PCU experience at a 1:5 ratio (ICU experience alone does not meet requirements).
  • Ventilator experience mandatory.
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications required; IV start skills preferred.
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health records strongly preferred.
  • Travel nursing experience advantageous.

Additional Details

  • This is a 48-hour contract position with overtime compensation applicable after 48 hours.
  • Nurse schedules may include floating across multiple campuses located within 15 miles.
  • The facility operates under a flexible staffing model to optimize both patient care and nurse workload.
  • Nurses will wear navy blue scrubs on this unit.
