Stepdown RN - Elyria, Ohio

An opportunity is available for a registered nurse specializing in stepdown care to support a dedicated cardiac stepdown unit. This contract role requires recent and substantial experience in cardiac stepdown or progressive care, providing critical monitoring and nursing care for patients transitioning from intensive care to standard medical units.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown patients, including vital sign monitoring and patient assessments
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders
• Respond promptly to changes in patients conditions and escalate concerns as needed
• Accurately document patient care and complete necessary assessments, including ECG rhythm recognition and medication safety protocols during orientation
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Work shifts that may include nights and weekends, with a rotating schedule requiring flexibility

Qualifications / Desired Experience

• Active Ohio Permanent RN license or Compact State license in hand
• Minimum of 18 months permanent experience in cardiac stepdown or progressive care prior to travel; travel experience accepted if recent
• BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications required
• Ability to work at least every other holiday
• Former experience with PCU/Progressive Care preferred but not required

Schedule/Hours

• Rotating 12-hour shifts, primarily night shifts (7:00 pm 7:30 am) with potential day shifts (7:00 am 7:30 pm) as operational needs dictate
